The Opening Ceremony of the 71st Congress of the International Fiscal Association will be held in the Plenary room on the 3rd floor of the Windsor Convention & Expo Center on Sunday, 27 August 2017.

All Participants, Accompanying Persons, sponsors and exhibitors are invited to attend a great event including a unique immersion in the local culture through dance performances, which will give the audience a taste of one of the Brazilian renowned features: how to put together a captivating highly-entertaining show!

Following the Opening Ceremony, a Welcome Reception will be held for all attendees in the exhibition area of the Congress Center.

Our Museum Evening will be held at Museu do Amanhã (Museum of Tomorrow), an icon of cultural destination being elected the best museum of South & Central America in 2016 by the British award “Leading Culture Destination”. Situated at Praça Mauá, Museu do Amanhã is a science museum that promotes exploration, reflection and planning of possibilities for the future.

Museu do Amanhã examines the past, considers current trends, and explores future scenarios for the next 50 years, approached from a perspective of sustainability and conviviality. Visitors are encouraged to reflect on the Anthropocene era - the geologic era in which we live, when man began to alter the climate, degrade biomes and interfere with ecosystems – and on their own role as part of human action and its transforming power.

Six major trends of the next half-century are explored: climate changes; changes in biodiversity; growing population and increased life span; greater cultural integration and differentiation; advances in technology; and expanded knowledge.

The event will feature a cocktail reception with appetizers from local hors d'oeuvres to Italian classics with a Brazilian twist. Transfer from and back the Congress Venue will be provided.

Our Cultural Evening will be held at Sugarloaf, one of the most famous sights in the world. Delegates will have an exclusive opportunity to experience a typical Brazilian night, tasting our unique gastronomy, with an astonishing view of the city.

Because of its shape, its privileged location, its presence in the history of the city, and the original way to access its summit, the Sugarloaf is a natural, historic and tourist landmark of the city of Rio de Janeiro.

A natural landmark because its peak is located at the entrance of the Guanabara Bay and is a visual reference to sailors and pilots.

A historic landmark because it was at the foot of the Sugarloaf mountain that Estácio de Sá founded the city of São Sebastião do Rio de Janeiro on March 1st, 1565. Having arrived in Rio on February 28, 1565, he started what was to become “the wonderful city” on March 1, between the “Cara de Cão” and the “Pão de Açúcar” hills.

A tourist landmark because the launch of the Sugarloaf aerial tramway in 1912 made the name and image of Rio de Janeiro famous across the entire world. The Sugarloaf cable car system was the first in Brazil and the third in the world, and leveraged the development of the tourism industry in the country. It is no wonder that it is called the Tourist Jewel of the Wonderful City.
